Can you explain your marketing to clients?

Today’s Web 2.0 Wrap-Up comes from an interesting post at Active Rain – The Top 10 Technology Questions to Ask When Hiring a Realtor®. While the post is geared towards helping consumers choose a tech-savvy Realtor®, it got me thinking about whether we sell our online marketing as well as we sell traditional offline marketing to potential clients.
Do you fully understand why you do what you do? Can you show and explain results coming in from online listing or social networking sites you participate in? Most of all, can you translate that into value to your clients?
Many clients have heard of Facebook and Craigslist, and know that these are new tools for getting attention to their listing. But taking the time to explain how social networking and online listings can benefit them can help them realize the additional value you bring to the table, and why they should select you to list their property with.
Whether this involves more online tracking through services like Google Analytics, or just getting better answers on how someone found your property online, being able to explain the value of what you do online is huge.
