Do even more marketing with Facebook

Marketing, Networking, Real Estate 2.0, Social Media Marketing
Now that you’ve created your first Facebook page (you did, right?), it’s time to think about more ways to utilize Facebook. You have one for yourself as a Realtor®, but as we all know, some people will avoid anything that looks the least bit self-promoting. So you may have Facebook friends that choose not to become a fan of your page. That’s okay!
Other ways you can utilize Facebook in your online marketing strategy is by creating individual neighborhood or town groups. People that may not choose to become a fan of your personal page may very well be interested in joining a group providing great info on their area. Choose one neighborhood or area you know well, and create a community group for it. The steps are very similar to the ones I showed in my last post (Using Facebook Pages in your Real Estate Marketing) except you will go to your Applications menu, then select Groups, Create Group. You’ll also want to select Geography –> Neighborhoods as the type, and make the focus less about you and more about what will be of value to the group members. You can find an excellent example at the Oakhurst News, Entertainment…and Real Estate Info page.
It’s a great way to get people more involved than they might on your own personal page. You can post information about area events, local government changes, and fundraisers, as well as home sales and market data that you as a real estate agent are knowledgeable enough to provide them. You can invite your own friends to join through the “Share” button on the right side once the group is created. By using good keywords (neighborhood name, maybe the larger city name as well i.e. Chicago: Bucktown) it will also make it easier to find for other local folks you’re not connected to yet.
And as the creator of the group, you are able to email group members with all kinds of valuable info, happenings, even local sales. This gets your name in front of them repeatedly without any kind of sales push on your part. If you want to get really advanced, you can even create a separate Facebook Event, then link it to the Group, which will go out several different ways on your newsfeed, as well as the newsfeeds of all your members.
Tip: Utilize the Memorable Web Address application for your group, in order to have an easy-to-remember URL to give out. Plus, using your neighborhood keywords in the URL will be helpful for the search engines too!
Just another way to make your time spent on Facebook more productive – and in the end I think more time is what we’re all searching for!

Hi Denny -
It might be because you don’t currently have any ads or pages going. But that’s okay! If you visit any page (either one you’re invited to, or mine – http://companies.to/ConsistentClients) and scroll down, you’ll see “Create a Page for My Business” on the left hand side under the picture/info/fans section. Once you click on that, you should be taken to that page where you can start the process of setting up YOUR page.
Thanks for stopping by!
