Go Green with Blogging

recycling real estate blog contentNow, I’m not talking about all the trees you’ll save not sending direct mail advertisements. That’s just a side benefit of blogging.

No, I’m talking about recycling your blogging material. One of the biggest complaints I hear from agents is that blogging is very time consuming, or they’re not good writers.

While the frequency of your posts is very important, no one said each one had to be written from scratch.

If you’re not a big writer, think about going the direction of a photo blog. Find interesting area photos and write a quick caption. These are always interesting for people relocating to your area.

If you find yourself answering the same questions over the phone or via email, turn those answers into blog posts. You already have the thoughts together and the majority of the post written. Just reword into a stand alone post, and you quickly have the content your clients are always looking for.

Have you written a press release? An article for a local paper? Consider posting it onto your blog as well (with permission, of course!). There’s new blog content that will help you be found in the search engines, without you writing one extra word.

Or, go back to older posts on your blog. Sometimes they need to be updated, and rather than updating the old post, write a new one with the new information. Then link the old post to the new. Not only are you showing clients you stay on top of your market, but you show the search engines that you frequently update older content as well.

Finally, remember that blog readers are usually looking for that personal touch. It’s not such a bad thing to write like you talk. You may find that a casual writing style helps to encourage comments, as well. As long as you are knowledgeable and respectful, readers will remember you because they connected with you personally. And that is really the key on how to get real estate clients.

These are all some ideas on ways to reuse content and keep time spent writing to a minimum. Do you have any tricks you use to recycle content? I’d love to hear them.
