Have you been actively networking lately?

We know it’s important to let friends and family know what we do. At the same time, we have a marketing budget to ensure we’re on top of people’s minds for their real estate needs.
There’s another key element to marketing, and it goes well beyond traditional advertising. Wonder what it is? It’s networking and becoming invested and valued in your community. Are there organizations you can join to make a difference? You’ll not only meet new and interesting people who might just be potential clients, you’ll feel good about your contributions.
Here are some quick suggestions:
Join your local Chamber of Commerce and become active in their networking events and mixers.
Consider Rotary Clubs, Toastmasters or other civic organizations (your Chamber is a great source of information on what’s available).
Join a business Mastermind group. Not only will you have people to bounce ideas off of and grow your business that way, you develop relationships that can benefit you down the line.
Visit www.meetup.com to find other groups you can become a part of in your area. Whether they’re business or personal interests, you’re developing a larger SOI the whole time.
Volunteer – whether you’re feeding the homeless, donating time to a children’s hospital, or volunteering as an officer of a civic organization, you know your time is helping your community and your business.
Since it’s summertime, is there anything outdoors you can do that will combine business with pleasure? You can ask about helping man a booth at a neighborhood event, lead groups at a nature center or park, and who knows what else! Just asking for opportunities can open doors for you.
So have you been letting your networking slide lately, or have you been out among the people in your community?
