Make your blog talk
Tue, Sep 9, 2008
In addition to listening closely to your clients, make sure you’re speaking to them honestly and openly as well. In fact, this can be the best way to get them talking. People don’t want you to just spout out your marketing message. They want you to be candid, helpful and yourself.

This is where your blog can shine.
It allows you to showcase your knowledge, your personality, the way you handle your clients. It lets you open a conversation with clients and readers without any sales pressure on them. You can provide insight on your local market, answer commonly asked questions from your clients, and sell yourself on what makes YOU unique.
Marketing materials are hard to trust – when was the last time you accepted a sales letter at face value, with no additional research or information? It’s probably been a while. Lots of agents say the same things over and over about themselves
- Honest
- Dedicated
- Superior customer care
These words might describe you to a T, but to a new client, they’re just words until they see you in action. An agent that I think is an excellent example of showcasing her knowledge and personality and connecting with her readers is Teresa Boardman over at St. Paul Real Estate. Just like Teresa, by using your blog effectively, you can make it talk for you.
Your readers won’t need you to sell them on “you”, they’ll already be sold!
