Pop-up’s in Online Real Estate Marketing?
Mon, Feb 16, 2009
Today’s Weekend Web 2.0 Wrap-Up is a little different than usual. I came across a post at Read, Write, Web on a new pop-up technology from Apture that adds contextual information to regular links. There are quite a few different companies that have offered this, but Apture is interesting.
While I’m not a big fan of pop-up’s that interfere with your reading a page, a small window that pops up with additional information about the phrase or link could, if used correctly, really help your website stand out to visitors.
Imagine someone searching for information on your neighborhood, and coming across your site. Not only do you have relevant information for them on available homes, neighborhood info, market data, etc., but you have pop-up windows through Apture that can show them town demographics for the area within the same post.
Or, if they’re looking at a listing post for a home that was part of a home tour, taking them directly to the point in a YouTube video showcasing the one house they’re interested in, instead of them watching through the entire video.
These are just a couple ideas – the point is providing even more valuable information to your readers, in a way that is easy to read. They get the information they’re looking for without having to leave your site.
What are your thoughts on pop-ups? Is there a way to use them well? I’d love to hear other ideas from you as well.
