Stamps – a 2 cent marketing tool
Tue, Mar 24, 2009
Have you heard that the USPS is at it again? Rates for postage will be increasing again on May 11th, to the tune of a 2 cent increase. We may not appreciate, but understand the cost of doing business. Smart marketers will see that this is also a great opportunity to continue to build a relationship with your clients.
Here’s how you can turn the postal rate increase into your own marketing advantage.
Purchase sheets of 2 cent stamps and enclose them in a personal handwritten note to your clients. Let them know you’re thinking about them and appreciate how valuable their time is. Investing in a pack of .02 cent stamps only costs .20 cents per client. Or you can purchase a sheet of 20 Forever Stamps. The forever stamps don’t expire and can be used even after other price hikes.
Here’s a good example of a note to go with them:
Hi! I’m not sure if you’ve heard yet, but the US Postal Service will be raising the rates to send a first class letter from .42¢ to .44¢ on May 11th. To save you a little bit of time and money, I’ve included a sheet of .02¢ stamps for you. Hopefully this will come in handy and save you a trip to the post office. If you’ve already gotten some, feel free to pass these along to someone else that could use them.
I suggest doing this today so the stamps reach them BEFORE the increase. Remember it’s all about relationships and long–term benefits. What have you done to increase top of the mind awareness with your clients lately?
