The long-term, no-pressure close
Tue, Sep 23, 2008

We’ve talked about connecting with your clients with your blog and other forms of marketing. But what then? How do you move from an interested reader to an active client?
You have to ask. Remember, if you don’t ask, you won’t get.
You could try the “Call Now for your Free Consultation” approach. If you have readers that are ready to make a decision, that could be very effective.
But, many of the people you’re reaching may not be quite ready. Don’t just drop them and move on to the next possibility. You have an excellent opportunity to cultivate the relationship and groom them to automatically come back to you when they are ready.
Some readers may have some questions or want to talk with you, but are hesitant to call because they don’t want the high-pressure sales pitch. So you need to find other ways to offer value, build a relationship, and keep in touch.
At this point, your prospects might be comfortable with:
- Signing up for email updates whenever you have new posts
- Requesting your free neighborhood guide
- Searching listings on your site
- Emailing a question to be answered on your blog
- Browsing through your video tours on YouTube
None of these requires direct contact with you, so it is a lot more comfortable for prospects. They’ll be more likely to do one of the above. They’ll be able to see for themselves that you are one smart cookie, and will be able to help them when they are ready.
So find ways to work in these no-pressure ways to connect, and you may find more and more clients signing themselves up to work with you, now and in the future.
