Marketing, Networking, Real Estate 2.0, Social Media Marketing
As I’ve discussed before, Web 2.0 is all about interaction. Today we are going to talk about using the social networking site, Facebook, to connect with potential clients. One thing I often hear about Facebook is “I’ve signed up for an account. Now what? How do I get clients and referrals?”
The key to sites like Facebook is to develop relationships with people already in your network, as well as expand your network. But you absolutely cannot “spam” them. If they haven’t asked you for information about homes for sale in your area, don’t send them any. Focus on connecting with them in a personal way. When they update their status about something that interests you, comment on their wall. Interact with them. If it’s their birthday, say “Happy Birthday!”. If their blog feed comes into their Facebook account, follow it through and comment on their blog. For some more ways to use Facebook, check out this blog post by Future of Real Estate Marketing.
Now, if you’re ready to get a little more commercial, Facebook also offers Facebook Flyers, which allow you to post an ad, and target certain groups of people. FOREM also has a blog post about the best ways to use Flyers, if you’re ready to do so. But honestly, I recommend at least starting off just with your own profile at the beginning, if only to get a feel for Facebook-ers, and what ad campaigns might work best.
Do you have a Facebook profile already? I’d love to hear what has worked for you, and any successes you’ve had with it. And feel free to add me as a friend, while you’re at it!
