Today I want to take that a little bit further. As we’ve mentioned, web 2.0 is all about interaction between you and your readers (aka clients). But is your site encouraging interaction?
In an ideal world, all your readers will be potential buyers, sellers, or investors. These may be people that don’t know what a blog is, have never heard of RSS, and simply want all the information they can get. You need to make sure that your site is making it easy for them to figure out what you want them to do, and encourages them to interact with you.
Do you want them to browse your listings? Make sure you have attractive, easy to find call to action buttons on your site. If you’re not a graphic designer, consider using sites like Stock Xpert or Fotolia .
Do you want them to sign up for your free report? Promote it clearly, with a simple sign-up box.
Do you want them to comment on your blog? Ask them to! Promote your recent commentors with a Recent Comments widget for Wordpress, or see if your blog platform offers something similar.
To get the most interaction with your readers, keep it simple (not too many widgets, applications “busy-ness” on the site) and show them exactly where you want them to go, and what you want them to do there.
Now I’d love to hear from you. Have you found any call-to-actions particularly successful?
