Your Reputation is like gold in real estate

Today’s Weekend Web 2.0 Wrap-Up comes from John Jones’ Active Rain blog – Social Media Reputation Awareness. It’s a great reminder that anything we do in our social networking and social marketing is able to be seen by anyone looking hard enough. We need to keep in mind that potential clients, colleagues, and business partners will often Google our name or business name, and our LinkedIn profile may not be the first thing they find.
Take a look at John’s post, as it’s an interesting insight into the search from the other side, then think about using some of these Reputation Management tools to monitor your own reputation:
Google Alerts: receive an email or sign up for the RSS feed for the results. You can enter your name, your business name, your web address and more to monitor anytime someone mentions you.
Search.Twitter.com: not only is this a valuable tool for finding other people to follow, but it’s a way to monitor anytime someone mentions you or your company on Twitter (with or without an @ reply). Just perform the search, then subscribe to the RSS feed for the results at the top right.
Monitor This: lets you perform a search and subscribe to the RSS feed results for 20 different search engines. You can then import all 20 feeds into your feed reader, and monitor sites like Google, Google blog search, Technorati, Flickr, del.icio.us, Yahoo!, MSN, Summize and more.
